POTASSIUM CYANIDE, [14C] - Introduction
POTASSIUM CYANIDE (POTASSIUM CYANIDE) is an inorganic compound, chemical formula KCN. It is a colorless crystalline solid with high solubility in water. Potassium cyanide has a salt-like structure in which the iron ion forms a coordination bond with the cyanide ion.
Potassium cyanide is widely used, mainly for metal processing, electroplating and metal extraction in the metallurgical industry, and also as a catalyst for organic synthesis. It is also widely used as a starting material for the preparation of other cyanides and organic Cyano Compounds.
There are usually two methods for preparing potassium cyanide. One is obtained by reacting cyanide bases (such as potassium bicarbonate and sodium cyanide) with potassium salts. The other is obtained by electrolysis of silver cyanide or Iron cyanide solution.
Regarding safety information, potassium cyanide is a highly toxic substance and is highly toxic. Inhalation, exposure, or ingestion of potassium cyanide can cause severe toxic reactions that can even be fatal. Strict safety measures such as wearing protective gloves, face shields and goggles must be taken when handling potassium cyanide. In addition, potassium cyanide should be stored in sealed containers, away from other chemicals, and avoid contact with acids, oxidants and combustibles. If you are accidentally exposed to potassium cyanide, take appropriate emergency measures immediately and seek medical help. It is important to use and store potassium cyanide with caution and to follow safe practices.
